A Funny Update.

An update on the Mark Beers being funny project. So I will sadly no longer be hosting the open mic night. I guess Joey-V must have sobered up a bit since he asked me. However, I will be doing my time. Just imagine 5 minutes of me on stage with a microphone. It's going to be legendary! Or it's going to suck. Guess we'll all find out soon huh?

Some thoughts from the weekend.

These are some things that I thought I'd fill you in on.
  1. The new PC is working quite well. I play a good 4 or 5 hours of WoW on Sunday. I must say, after my first few days with Vista I am quite impressed. This OS has very nice aesthetics. I think secretly every PC owner and user has been looking at Mac's for a few years and wished their computers looked that cool. With Vista I feel like Microsoft has finally given me that OS. The Aero interface is very nice looking. I love the see through windows. It is a system hog. with 2 GB of ram even idling the system was using 33% of my physical memory.
  2. Saw the moive "24 Hour Party People" last night. If you love the late 70's early 80's Manchester New Wave music scene (which I do) you will enjoy this mockumentary. It is informative, but at the same point funny as hell.

WoW...that's spirit!

Cinderellas No More

So the basketball season is over. Team Birch was bounced from the playoffs by Team Red. I had a great time, and I can't wait for next year. Thanks to all my teammates for such a fun season!

Cubs...Don't Win...

Me and Nanz took in the Cubbies Home opener today. It was cold, and the Cubbies lost 5 - 3, but fun was had none the less. Check out how cute we are!

Mark Beers...LIVE!

All right folks... check it out. My buddy Joey V. has apparently gone crazy. He's going to let me host his open mic night on April 27. Come on out and see the funny! Hopefully some of it will be my fault. It's Southside, so you northsiders better still make the trip. Word!

The Neverending Story...

That is the best way to describe my continued issues with personal home computing. Spent all day Sunday on the phone with Dell. (Seriously about 3 1/2 hours with one tech alone.) At the end, my current system was rendered completely useless. I take some small comfort in being the guy who comes up with things that no one at Dell Support has seen before. It's fun. So, at the end of the day they agreed to send me yet another new PC. Keep your fingers crossed folks. Who knows. Someday I'll have a computer that works. Someday.

On a lighter note. It's playoff season for my basketball league. Like a true cinderella team my squad came out like bats out of hell and turned in an outstanding all around performance leading to a resounding victory by Team Birch! We move on to the 2nd round, where we have to play the top seeded team in the league.

Finally today. This weekend I went out to Soundbar in Chicago with my boys "Honest Abe" and the Attache. We got the VIP treatment there because the owners want to get in bed with the Attache at the club he is going to be opening soon with his family. While that was cool, and the bar rocked, what truly made the night LEGENDARY was that we played "Have you met Ted?" all night with various ladies at the club, and "Honest Abe" came away with a few phone numbers for the effort. So folks. If you see someone at a bar and you don't know how to talk to them remember this phrase: "Have you met Ted?" It's money. (If you don't know what "Have you met Ted?" is go buy the first season of "How I Met Your Mother" on DVD and get yourself some education.
