The Battle of "New Hope"

akj8...I am throwing down the gauntlet!  Let the Battle of "New Hope" begin!  I've already told you of Audio-Surf, the wonderfully fun puzzle racer I recently acquired via Steam.  One of it's great features is that it collects the scores you achieve in various songs and compares them to anyone else who has played the song.   Until this morning by virtue of me having been the only one to play it I had been the world record holder for "New Hope" by Blink-182.

Then this morning I received an e-mail notifying me that my score had been beaten by akj8.   I did not take this lightly, and promptly logged in and trounced their score to regain the lead.   akj8 sensing that I would be at work took the opportunity to retaliate and past my score by a scant 1,276 points.   Enjoy your place at the top while you can akj8.  I'm coming for you, AND HELL'S COMMING WITH ME! new hope

Warning: Chicago Sees Dramatic Rise in Loganberry Related Crimes!

Living so far from Buffalo often makes me yearn for those little tiny things that are so intertwined with my memories of my home town. One of those things most certainly is Aunt Rosie's Loganberry. I love Loganberry. It is the nectar of the gods. The sad thing about it is that it is completely unheard of in the regions outside of Western New York. (No one in Chicago has ever heard of Sponge Candy ether if you can believe that.)

It is with a heavy heart that I write to you today with this post. Last weekend as a surprise my wonderful girlfriend Finch ordered me a case of Aunt Rosie's Loganberry. This package of sweet, purplely, juicy goodness was whisked on it's way to Chicago via UPS. On Monday the package was reported to have been delivered to my apartment building and left at the front door by UPS. As the delivery was a surprise, I had no way of knowing to expect it. It is now Friday. I have no Loganberry. I can only assume that my treasure trove of sweet deliciousness has been stolen. As I am sure you can guess this distresses me very much, and Finch just the same. Does this mean that someone in my building is a thief? I certainly wouldn't want to think so, but what other conclusion can I come to? I am going to post signs in my building, but don't expect much from it.

So where does that leave us? Basically, we have been screwed over. UPS will take no responsibality for the package because they are instructed by the merchant www.buffalofoods.com to leave packages at the front door without a signature. Buffalo Foods washes their hands because on their website they have put a disclaimer saying that both UPS and Buffalo Foods are not responsible for stolen packages. Great! They have a disclaimer, they have Finch's money, UPS got paid for the shipping and I have no Loganberry. Both myself and Finch have gone so far as to call and speak with Ron at Buffalo Foods, and all he could offer was allowing me to order a case at cost. He didn't freaking care. (Granted I can understand his side of things they claim to be a small 3 person company.) This is easily the worst and least sympathetic customer service that I have ever experienced. I would wonder how a company could stay in business with that level of customer service, but I suppose since they have Finch's money this doesn't affect their bottom line at all. Well I will have my say. Granted, I realize that my blog has no influence what so ever, but I know some people read it. If any of my readership happens to ponder ordering from this company and doesn't because of this, even just one I might feel a little better.

I had long been pondering starting to order regular cases of Loganberry so that I could have some here in Chicago. You better be certain that if I do it certainly will not be from www.buffalofoods.com.

Hey, here is an idea. Visit their site. Write Ron an e-mail. Tell him he sucks.

Free Stuff is always awesome! I just stumbled up a website called RCRD LBL.com. It is pretty cool. They give you free music. I would recommend "Say Hi To Your Mom."

Play This Game

Everyone... this is Audiosurf. Audiosurf this is everyone. If you are a PC Gamer you seriously should buy this game. It's the best 10 dollars I've spent all week. (Although the 10 dollar hamburger I ate yesterday was pretty awesome too!) So what is Audiosurf you might ask? Basically, it is a simple little game that will analyse any audio file you throw at it (It supports CD's, mp3, wma, ogg, flac and integrates with iTunes) and generate a roller coaster-esque track based upon the ebb and flow of that songs tempo. A slower tempo portion of the song creates an uphill curve while faster tempos will create steeper downward inclines. Once the program generates the course you fly down it in a little space ship playing a variety of mini games. The mini games which are determined through the selection of which spaceship you will control can range from simply collecting coloured blocks while avoiding grey ones to more complex games that task you with collecting patterns of coloured blocks a-la games such as "Puzzle Fighter".

To say this game is addictive is an understatement. It has endless replayability limited only by the size of your music collection. It is fun to select songs even just to see what sort of course each song will generate. The action stays fast paced throughout, and the game is fantastic at generating that "Oh sh*t... here we go!" feeling in your stomach as you start to near the top of a long downward slope. The fact that the game is capable of utilizing your entire music library ensure that you will always have something fun to play to as well. Controls are simple, employing only your mouse to navigate your space ship.

Installing this game does require that you download and install the Steam client from Valve software.

Time to redesign that office Goose...

My New Celebrity Crush

So I watched the Oscars last night, and I think I've developed a new celebrity crush! Diablo Cody you are gorgeous! In my humble opinion she out shown everyone else at the show last night. Plus, she's from Chicago!

I knew it...

I was always a bit suspicious of Elmo...

Mr. West

So I subscribe to the RSS feed from Kanye West's blog. (I know, I know but hey I love Kanye! He's one of Chicago's biggest cheerleaders.) Today he posted a link to "Stuff White People Like". I am going to pretend that this is due to the fact that he is a rabid reader of "In Mark's Head". Maybe I'm on HIS RSS feed! That would rule.

Honestly though, Kanye's blog is kind of fun. He posts lots of weird stuff there. Like this, or this.

DHKA is back

Dave Hoffman is back and blogging! Bless you Godfather. May your first blog be a masculine one.

We called "Twin Galaxies" last night!

So last night me and The Showmen were sitting around watching "The King of Kong" and playing Magic.  (Normal Sunday stuff really.)   After the movie The Gent was trolling around on The Twin Galaxies web site and we happened upon a phone number for Walter Day.   The operator of Twin Galaxies the organization responsible for  tracking the top scores in Arcade Video games.  So we decided to give him a call.  Would you know that the man answered!    We chatted with Walter for a few minutes, and he is going to send us some autographed "King of Kong" posters.   He was such a nice man and we really had a fun conversation with him.  So cool!

Just some random thoughts...

Hello to all of you out there in readerland! How is everyone doing?

So let me get this right out of the way. Congratulations to the New York Giants for their excellent Super Bowl performance this past weekend. That truly was a game for the ages, and The Giants certainly earned their rings by just going out and beating the Patriots straight up. Granted my desire to see the 1972 Miami Dolphins wiped out of the record books came to naught, but I couldn't help but root for the Giants when the clock started ticking down and the game got exciting.

In other news. My girlfriend is still awesome!

Damn.... I thought I would have more to talk about today. Poop!
